WHAT IS PET LOSS GRIEF COACHING?

Pet loss grief coaches provide specialized, compassionate one-on-one support to help individuals navigate the intense emotional pain, guilt, and grief following the death or anticipated loss of a companion animal.

These professionals offer a safe, non-judgmental space to validate your grief, often offering virtual sessions.

Key Aspects of Pet Loss Grief Coaching:

Virtual Support: Many coaches offer one-on-one sessions via video call or phone.

Anticipatory Grief: Support for managing emotions when a pet is ill or nearing end of life.

Addressing Guilt/Shame: Helping to process difficult decisions, such as euthanasia.

Validation: Acknowledging that the loss is as significant as a human family member.

Individualized care: Tailored strategies to help you find comfort and move forward at your own pace.

JULIE JEGER, Certified Pet Loss Grief Coach

As a Pet Loss Grief Coach, my goal is to help you navigate through all the changes, difficult decisions, and emotions that you are going through after the loss of your pet. This is something that we should never have to go through alone.

I am a great animal lover and have the ability to communicate with them intuitively – “fur babies” (as I call them) have always been a huge part of my life. As such, I have sadly had to endure the heartache of saying goodbye to each of them way too many times.

Unless you are a lover of animals, it is hard to understand the deep bond we share with them, and that they are truly a part of our family. In so being, the pain and heartache we feel when we have to say goodbye to them is, in many cases, just as difficult as saying goodbye to a human family member. For some, this is the only family member they have.

When a friend or family member does not understand why we are experiencing such pain over losing a pet, it makes the grieving process even more difficult. They may expect that we should be “over it by now” or say things like “but it’s just a dog” (or whatever the animal is). This triggers anxiety, doubt, guilt, overwhelm and a host of other emotions and confused thinking – leaving you feeling unsupported and alone in your grief.

One of the dangers of feeling alone and unsupported is that we may try to hide our pain, or push our feelings under the rug, instead of allowing ourselves to fully embrace the grieving process – we need to embrace it in order to heal.

Acceptance alone is extremely difficult, but allowing ourselves to grieve, and getting through to the other side of grief to healing is more successful when we have compassionate, non-judgmental, and unwavering support.

This is my promise to you in my role as your grief coach, should you so choose:

  • I will guide you through all the stages of grief and help you understand them.
  • I will listen patiently and with interest, to your story about your relationship and life with your animal companion.
  • I will respond compassionately and with understanding.
  • I will support you through the emotional highs and lows and give you the tools to help you cope.
  • I will have a genuine interest in your healing.
  • I will help you moving forward.
  • You are not alone – we will walk this path together.
